STURGEON BAY — Stuart Keys, 59, the De Pere man who died May 14, 2016 while sailing near Little Sturgeon Bay, will have his funeral at 1 p.m., Wednesday afternoon, May 18, 2016 at Huehns Funeral Home in Sturgeon Bay with Rev. Philips Sweet officiating. Burial will be in Bayside Cemetery.

Friends may call at Huehns Funeral Home on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at 1 p.m., according to his obituary. (READ)

Keys had been sailing alone Friday, May 13, 2016 in the area of Little Sturgeon Bay when his sailboat was discovered washed ashore near Wood Lane and N. Stevenson Pier Roads, according to Door County Sheriff Steve Delarwelle.

Searchers combed the area overnight, and a Coast Guard helicopter discovered Keys’ body about 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the water off of Bittersweet Road in the town of Gardner.

Keys retired four years ago vice president and estimator at Schmidt Construction Company in Sheboygan.

He was a member of the Great Lakes Single Handed Society (Solo Sailing Club), and member of the Marinette-Menominee Yacht Club.
